1 egg, beaten
3/4 cup dry bread crumbs
3 Tbsp evaporated milk
2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 small onion, finely grated
Topping ideas:
cheese, tomato & gherkin
bacon & avocado
blue cheese and fig
Sauce ideas:
prego, mushroom, pepper
cheese or creamy garlic
Cooking options: Frying pan on medium heat or gas grill on high heat.
In a large bowl, using your hands, mix the ground beef, egg, bread crumbs, evaporated milk, worcestershire sauce, cayenne pepper, onion and garlic.
Gently shape the mixture into 8 hamburger patties about 2cm thick.
Using your thumb, make a shallow depression in the centre of each burger to prevent puffing up during cooking.
Cook burger patties for 5- 7 minutes per side, or until no longer pink inside. Do not prod your burgers, pierce with a fork or turn frequently as precious juices will be lost!
Tuck into a warm crusty bun, add your favourite toppings and sauce, and serve with chunky fries or oven chips. Super chilled!
Tips: Baste frequently with your favourite barbeque sauce while cooking. Add more
bread crumbs to the mixture for patties that hold their shape better.
